The snow may help shoppers get into the holiday spirit a little earlier this year. 30 days from now most of the presents will have been opened and many will be sitting down for a festive feast which means there’s little time left to get those Christmas lists to Santa. Melissa Raftis has more on the rush to Santa.

It’s crunch time for shoppers and thing at Lime Ridge Mall are just starting to pick up now as more and more people come in and sneak in a little Christmas shopping on their way home from work before dinner at home. If you have a letter for Santa, you can drop that off at Lime Ridge. Some people we talked to her at the mall said they’re already done their Christmas shopping. Many said that they’re still shopping for themselves and preparing for that cold weather by buying some coats and boots. Some people say they’re waiting for the Black Friday deals before they actually start their Christmas shopping and Lime Ridge Mall will be participating in Black Friday by opening their doors early at 7am. Other people we talked to say that the panic they feel if they feel behind on their shopping is starting to creep in.

“Probably not, there’s always a couple of last minute gifts that I have to get.”

“We don’t know what to get for everybody yet.”

“We’re just tabbing things that we want to get for them.”

The CHCH Christmas toy drive is underway. This year, we’re teaming up with Lime Ridge Mall to help bring holiday cheer to a lot of kids through the East Hamilton Optimist Club. You can drop off a donation at Lime Ridge, or at our CHCH studios to put a smile on a child’s face. The toy drive runs from now through to Christmas Eve.

If you are dropping off a toy at Lime Ridge you can drop it at the gingerbread house. It’s in the centre of the mall near Old Navy.
