One killed, one injured in Waterdown apartment fire

The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal fire in Waterdown early Friday morning.
Officials say the blaze broke out in a seventh floor apartment on John St. W. around 2 a.m.
Hamilton’s Fire Chief David Cunliffe says crews arrived to heavy smoke and flames inside the unit.
Two people were found inside.
Fire crews say a woman in her 70s was found on the balcony.
Her son, a man in his 40s, was found dead in his bedroom.
Cunliffe says there were working fire alarms inside.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the unit.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
