One in custody, another wanted after vehicle stolen and crash in Oakville

One person is in custody and another person is wanted after a vehicle was stolen from a home in Oakville Wednesday morning.

Halton police say an unoccupied vehicle was warming up in a driveway near Sixth Line and Upper Middle Road around 8 a.m., when it was taken.

A suspect vehicle accompanied the driver of the stolen car, and they both fled the area.

The suspect vehicle was located after it hit a fuel truck at the intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Lakeshore Road East, leading to a fuel leak.

The lone occupant of the suspect vehicle has been taken into custody.

Authorities say there is no known risk to the public and are not reporting any injuries.

Investigation into the theft, collision and occupant of the stolen vehicle is ongoing.

The intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Lakeshore Road East was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
