OLG offers Toronto more casino money

Although Toronto has not decided if it will support building a proposed casino, the provincial lottery corporation is offering the city more than double the gambling revenues that other cities would receive from a casino.

Toronto is being offered the bigger incentive because it would be a bigger and more ambitious project compared to proposed casinos in Hamilton or other communities in the province. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is proposing five new casinos in Ontario and every region, except Toronto, supports the idea. Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said he is watching the discussions around the hosting fee for Toronto “with great interest” and wants the same deal for his city. Niagara Falls receives $3-million a year in hosting fees for its two casinos.
