Off-duty Hamilton Police officer arrested

A Hamilton Police officer has been arrested due to an off-duty domestic assault investigation.

On May 8, Hamilton Police were called to a domestic assault incident. Police began their investigation.

The following day, Hamilton Police arrested and charged a 36 year old officer with 2 counts of Assault.

The 3 year member of the Police Service was taken into custody and is being held for a bail hearing.

The Hamilton Police Service will not be releasing the name of the Constable in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The officer has been suspended from duty with pay.
