O’Billovich retires
Hamilton Tiger-Cats Vice-President of Football Operations Bob O’Billovich has announced his retirement.
The 72 year old native of Butte, Montana spent the last five years as the Tiger-Cats General Manager before recently moving to the V.P. of Football Operations role.
O’Billovich was a player, coach and executive in the CFL in a career that began in 1963 as a quarterback and defensive back with the Ottawa Rough Riders. He was a university basketball coach in Ottawa from 1971 to 1974.
O’Billovich joined the CFL coaching ranks in 1974 as a guest coach with the Rough Riders and eventually became an assistant coach in 1976. He was hired as Head Coach of the Toronto Argonauts in 1982, and spent eight seasons on the sidelines, leading the double blue to three Grey Cup appearances, winning in 1983. He also worked in B.C., Saskatchewan and Calgary.
