Oakville woman dead following backyard pool drowning

An elderly woman has died following a drowning in a backyard pool in Oakville.

Halton police say it happened Saturday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. on Aspen Forest Drive.

Emergency responders found a bystander trying to resuscitate the unconscious woman before taking over.

The woman was later pronounced dead in hospital.
