Plans are underway to re-open Oakville’s pools and splash pads this summer.

The town will open all 19 splash pads on Friday.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Officials say caregivers should ensure kids are physical distancing and are reminding people to wash and sanitize their hands often.

Playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment will remain closed.

Meanwhile, certain town-run pools will open on July 13.

Lions, Wedgewood and Falgarwood outdoor pools and Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre’s indoor pool will be open, with certain changes.

Capacity will be reduced and timed leisure swims will be shortened.

Staff will clean the facilities between swimmers.

People will be asked screening questions before being allowed to go into the pool.

Anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter.

Swimmers should arrive ready to swim, as there will be no access to change rooms or change areas.

There will be no equipment available with the exception of life jackets, which will be disinfected between users.

Residents can begin booking their swim times online as of July 6 and payment must be made online.

In-person bookings will not be allowed.
