Oakville man charged after loaded gun, drugs found during traffic stop

Peel police have arrested and charged a man from Oakville after finding a loaded gun and drugs during a traffic stop.

On April 3, officers conducted a traffic stop near City Centre Drive and Duke of York Boulevard in Mississauga, which resulted in an arrest and the seizure of a loaded firearm.

Authorities say 25-year-old Jaidis Brooks-Reynolds attempted to flee on foot before being stopped, and was subsequently charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possess firearm with altered serial number
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession of opioid
  • Drive under suspension

Brooks-Reynolds was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
