Halton police say an Oakville firefighter has been charged with assault following an on-duty altercation with two Halton paramedics.

The incident happened during a call to a hotel room in Oakville on Sunday where Halton EMS requested assistance from the Oakville Fire Department.

Halton police say an altercation broke out between a member of the Oakville Fire Department and two Halton EMS staff.

Police were later contacted to investigate and on Tuesday, 52-year-old Brett Eyers of Oakville was arrested.

Eyers was charged with two counts of assault and released from custody pending a court date in Milton.
