Oakville boy becomes Halton’s new top cop

Halton Regional Police have named their new chief.

Stephen J Tanner (left) comes from Kingston police, where he’s the chief. Before that he was Belleville’s chief.

Tanner was born and raised in Oakville.

He will take over on September 1st, replacing Gary Crowell who retired earlier this month.

Tanner is also the president of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.
