Members of Hamilton’s local Steel Union hosted the annual Norma Berti International Women’s Day breakfast this morning at the United Steel Workers Centre.

In 1976, Norma Berti became the first Canadian woman to be elected to the Steel Workers Local in Canada.

The event provided an opportunity to honour feminist trailblazer and labour leader Lena Sutton for her YWCA Hamilton lifetime achievement award.

Over one hundred people stopped by to eat breakfast cooked and served by members of the United Steel Workers Local 7135.

Hamilton mountain MPP Monique Taylor was on hand for the celebration.
