No public safety threat after St. Catharines sexual assault Monday: police

Niagara police say they no longer believe there’s a threat to public safety in connection with an alleged sexual assault in St. Catharines.
Police said Monday they were investigating an alleged incident involving a 17-year-old boy who was walking his dog around 1 p.m. on a trail near Malcolmson Eco Park.
Investigators said a suspect approached the teen, they argued and the boy was then sexually assaulted in a wooded area.
Police now say that while the investigation continues, they don’t expect to lay any charges.
