No more SIN cards

Ottawa is getting rid of social insurance cards.

The government plans to get rid of the plastic cards by 2014 in an effort to cut costs and reduce the risk of identity theft.

The measure is included in the Conservative government’s massive budget implementation bill.

Government officials say cancelling the cards will save them about $1.5 million.
