No injuries in overnight Hamilton fire

No one was seriously injured during an overnight apartment fire in east Hamilton.

The tenant of a ground floor apartment at 40 Grandville Avenue escaped with only a minor foot injury after a fire engulfed his apartment.

The building was evacuated as firefighters put out the fire and ventilated the smoke.

The fire is believed to be caused by a burning sofa due to careless smoking.

Damage is estimated at $30,000.
