Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Shawn De Jager said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen area near the back of the house.
“This residence was in an area that does not have hydrants so a tanker shuttle utilizing water tankers from a number of the volunteer stations were used to shuttle water to the incident scene,” said Fire Chief Dave Cunliffe.
The fire caused significant damage to the attic and roof areas of the home.
Firefighters were able to stop the progress of the fire and there are no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
