No ice wine from Germany this year

There’s word out of Germany that the country won’t be producing its prized ice wine this year. Temperatures haven’t been cold enough this winter to freeze the grapes. None of the German regions dipped to the required -7 degrees Celsius or 19 degrees Fahrenheit. They must have a hard freeze to concentrate the sugar in order to produce the expensive and rare vintage. This could be good news for Canada’s Niagara region which is known worldwide for the quality of its ice wine.
