Ontario’s police watchdog says there are no grounds to charge officers in a Hamilton man’s arrest and injuries on May 4.

The Special Investigations Unit says Hamilton police were called to a building on Sanford Ave. S where a minivan was parked and running with two men passed out inside.

Police opened the car’s front doors and took the passenger into custody without incident.

Reports say an interaction happened when police woke up the 27-year-old man on the driver’s side and tried to arrest him.

After police were able to arrest him, the man was sent to hospital where they found breaks in his nose and left orbital bone.
