A Niagara woman is set to run the entire Bruce Trail. She hopes to complete the more than 895 kilometre trail in 3 weeks all while raising money for Cystic Fibrosis.

Emily Allan’s run will start Saturday morning in Tobermory at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula and she plans to finish 22 days later at Queenston Heights in Niagara on Canada Day.

Allan coaches the cross country team at Brock University and is running in memory of her cousin, Sarah Bloomfield who died at the age of 23, 12 years ago while waiting for a lung transplant. She was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that mainly affects the digestive system and lungs.

She has already raised $17 000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. She has been training since November, running at least 2 hours a day. Her husband Dan Dakin will be following along in an RV tracking her movements.

Allan plans to run between four and six hours a day to cross the finish line on time. She will be wearing a tracker throughout her run and she is encouraging people to join her for stretches of her journey.

You can follow her progress online and also donate to her cause.
