This Victoria Day weekend a lot of people decided to head to Niagara Falls. There were lineups at restaurants and all the major hotels were booked solid for 3 nights straight. From Clifton Hill to Dufferin Islands to Table Rock there were people everywhere.

“The people who book ahead of time are smart because we had people during the evening who could not find a room, that happened this weekend they could not find a room because people are all sold out.” Amy Bignucolo from Rodeway Inn Fallsview.

Even though all the hotels in the falls are sold, they say they really haven’t recovered from 9/11. The room rates people are paying this weekend are lower than they were 14 years ago. Amy Bignucolo says before 9/11 she was getting $189 a night at her Rodeway Inn Fallsview during weekends like this. Today the room rate is about $30 cheaper.
