Niagara to receive COVID-19 vaccines early next week

Niagara will be getting its shipment of COVID-19 vaccines early next week.
That’s according to Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoof, who tweeted there will be a “special emphasis” for high-risk and vulnerable people including healthcare workers and those in long-term care.

Niagara’s top doctor, Dr. Mustafa Hirji, is welcoming the news but is repeating his call to have public health lead vaccinations in long-term care and retirement homes.

Hirji says 26 of the 29 deaths reported in Niagara on Wednesday were in these residents.
