Niagara rescue try out new arm

(Video Update)
A big training exercise taking place in Niagara Falls Thursday morning…
Niagara Parks police and Niagara Falls firefighters were trying out a new device at the Niagara Glen staircase. The Glen Rescue Arm can hoist people up in a rescue basket from the bottom of the gorge. Until now, they had to carry people up the staircase or haul them up the side of the gorge.
This arm will get people to safety faster and will reduce the risk of injury to rescuers. It can hoist a person weighing up to 300 pounds and carry more than 600 pounds of equipment. The Niagara Glen is a popular hiking trail where people have fallen in the past.
