Niagara Region defers vote on mandatory mask bylaw

A mandatory mask bylaw in Niagara Region will be put to a vote again later this month.
Niagara Regional Council held a special meeting on Wednesday to debate and vote on a bylaw requiring masks inside commercial and public spaces.
The five-hour meeting ended in a stalemate.
Another vote on a mask bylaw will be held July 23.
In the meantime, the city of St. Catharines is expected to vote on its own mask bylaw on July 13.
Hamilton Public Health will discuss a bylaw at its board meeting on Friday July 10.
If it passes, it will go to city council the Friday July 17.
