As students return back to classes, Niagara Regional Police will be in school zones to remind drivers to follow the rules of the road.

On Sept. 8, officers will be reassigned from their daily duties to participate in the Back to School Enforcement Day initiative.

Starting at 8:00 a.m., police will be paying close attention to drivers speed, child restraint systems, school bus safety, aggressive driving, and distracted driving concerns.

The Niagara Regional Police Traffic Enforcement Unit will also be partnering with the Niagara Student Transportation Services for video surveillance on school buses.

Failure to stop for school buses with a deployed stop arm will be reported to the police for further investigation.

This marks the 20th year the Niagara Regional Police have participated in the initiative.
