Niagara Police seize 60 guns from St. Catharines man

A St. Catharines man is facing charges after police seized 60 guns they had already taken from him years earlier.
Now police are investigating how 71-year-old John Emmett ended up with the firearms in his possession once again.
After Emmett was stopped at the border with an illegal gun, Niagara Police say they had reason to believe there were more where it came from.
A raid at his home on Monday proved them right.
The guns discovered by police were among more than 100 guns, ammunition and explosives that were seized by officer 5 years ago at the same home. Following the seizure, a court hearing took place to determine what would happen to them.
For a number of years, Emmett also owned and operated the St Catharines gun club, which was located on his property near the Glendale Bridge, over the Welland Canal.
However, it was shut down in 2007 after it was revealed Emmett didn’t have the proper license to run the business.
