Niagara police seek man in connection with robbery in St. Catharines

Niagara police are looking for a man in connection with a robbery in St. Catharines.
On May 23, at around 10:30 p.m., police responded to a parking lot in the area of Rykert Street and Westdale Drive for a robbery investigation.
Officers located an injured woman. She was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and has since been released, but continues to recover from her serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police say investigation revealed the victim had parked her vehicle and upon exiting, was approached from behind and struck multiple times. A man took her purse and fled the scene on foot with personal items belonging to the woman and an undisclosed amount of money.
The man is wanted for robbery and is described as wearing jeans, running shoes, a hooded sweatshirt and a mask covering his nose and mouth.
Police are asking residents with CCTV footage that captures Rykert Street and Westdale Drive, and drivers who were in the area with an operational dash-camera, to review their footage and contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009482.
