Niagara police are searching for a man after a woman in her 20s was abducted and sexually assaulted Tuesday night.

Investigators said the woman was walking in the area of Drummond Rd. near Highway 420 around 7:30 p.m. when an unknown man who had been driving a pickup truck approached her.

He then forced her into the truck and took her to an unknown area, possibly in Chippawa.

Police said she was sexually assaulted and suffered facial injuries.

The woman was able to escape on foot. She waved down a passing motorist who brought her to a safe place near Frederica St. in Niagara Falls.

Paramedics then brought her to a local hospital.

The male suspect is described as being in his 20s, five-foot-11, clean shaven and has a muscular build, green eyes and blond hair slicked back into a bun. He was last seen wearing dark clothes, including capri-style pants.

Investigators believe the suspect may have been recently involved in a relationship with a woman that ended.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is being asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009167.
