Niagara police look to identify man who offered candy to student

The Niagara Regional Police Service is looking to identify a man who offered candy to a student in Niagara Falls.

Officers were called to John Marshall School on St. James Ave. on Friday for reports of a suspicious man.

Police say a man had walked near the school property and offered candy to one of the students. The child did not accept the candy and ran away and reported it to staff members.

The man left the area on foot and was last see westbound on St. John St.

He is described as a white male, 30 to 50 years old, five-foot-ten, 180 lbs and was wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

“The man made no threats, and there has been no allegations that would reach the threshold of a criminal offence,” said Niagara police in a news release. “Detectives are looking to identify the man to discuss his intentions and provide education about stranger awareness.”
