Niagara police investigate death in Grimsby

UPDATE

Niagara police say a female is dead and a male is in custody following an incident in Grimsby Friday morning.

Officers were called to the area of Main St. East and Bartlett Ave. shortly before 5 a.m.

Emergency crews found a 31 year old female with serious injuries when they arrived on scene. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

39 year old Mark Burrell of Toronto has been charged with 2nd degree murder. He has a bail hearing on February 6th in St. Catharines.

Police say there is no threat to public safety.

Several police cruisers were stationed outside the Lincoln Park Retirement Residence but managers of the facility say the incident did not happen inside the building and none of their staff members or residents were involved.
