Police have confirmed that a man has been found dead near the Town of Chippawa, early Monday.

Investigators say it is believed that he was a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle.

Niagara police called out their collision reconstruction team to the scene and closed down part of Sodom Road, between Weaver Road and Miller Road for several hours.

“Anyone who may have been in the area anyone who may have video/dash cam footage between April 4th, 2024 and 7:00 am on April 8, 2024, is asked to review their footage of the area and contact police if they observe anything suspicious,” police said in an update.

Sodom Road, also known as Regional Road 116, connects to part of the Queen Elizabeth Way highway from the south side of Niagara Falls.

Those travelling along the Welland River on Main Street should avoid using Sodom Road and instead take Willoughby Drive to circumvent the incident.
