Niagara police investigating fatal shooting in St. Catharines

Niagara police are investigating after a 30-year-old man was fatally shot early Monday morning in St. Catharines.
At around 3:40 a.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Carlton Street and Athlone Place.
Officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. He was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Road closures are in effect around Carlton Street and Athlone Place due to an ongoing police investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time.
