Niagara police investigate sudden death of man on Merritt Island Trail

Niagara police are investigating a sudden death in Welland.

Officers were called to the Merritt Island Trail around 9 a.m. Wednesday after the death of a man.

The trail was closed between the playground and Highway 406 for the investigation, but it has since reopened.

Police said there is no risk to the public and they do not suspect foul play.
