Niagara police investigate shooting at licensed grow-op

A shooting in broad daylight in rural Niagara Falls has left a man with serious injuries.

It happened around 2:15 p.m. near Somerville Rd. and Willoughby Rd.

Police say a 45-year-old man called 911 to report he had just been shot. Officers found the man suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

He was transported to a trauma centre outside of Niagara Region and remains in serious condition.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

“The premise which is a licensed medicinal cannabis grow operation was secured by uniform officers, detectives, K9, and Emergency Task Unit officers. The scene is being held pending a search warrant,” said police in a news release.

Police are asking residents and any businesses in the area to check their surveillance footage between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. for any suspicious activity.
