A Niagara police service dog helped locate a suspect after an armed robbery at a Niagara Falls gas station.

Police and the canine unit arrived at the gas station just after midnight on Monday. Police service dog Zoey immediately began tracking the suspect and guided officers to a motor-home in a back yard on Mcrae Street.

Police arrested 31-year-old Donald Tyler Swalm of Fort Erie inside the home and conducted a search that found several pieces of evidence including an imitation firearm that had been used during the robbery.

Swalm was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
