Niagara police continue search for victim in brutal attack

Niagara police have released new information they hope will help locate a victim in a vicious attack in downtown St. Catharines.
Investigators say the assault happened on April 22 around 1:50 a.m. but was never reported to police.
A group of youths, four males and two females, attacked a man walking by himself along the pathway behind Marilyn Walker School of Fine Arts and Performing.
The victim was struck with an object and kicked while he was on the ground. The group went through the victim’s pockets and then fled the area.
Earlier this month, police put out photographs of the brutal beating but have now released five new potentially identifying characteristics about the victim:
- The victim’s blue button up shirt which matches the color of his shoes.
- The victim is also wearing a black flat brimmed base ball cap with what appears to be a sticker on top of the brim.
- A lanyard also hangs from the victim’s right pocket.
- The victim’s head appears completely bald.
- The victim came from the St. Paul Street area prior to the attack.
Anyone with information that could help police identify the victim is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Andrew Knevel at 905-688-4111 ext. 9104.
