Niagara police arrest woman in connection with Fort Erie arson

Niagara police say a woman was arrested in connection with an arson in Fort Erie.

Police say on Saturday, April 16 at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers responded to a reported structure fire in the area of Bertie Street and Central Avenue.

The Fort Erie Fire Department extinguished the flames as officers began investigating reports of a woman seen leaving the scene carrying a gas can.

Police say the woman was quickly identified, located and arrested

No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the fire.

Police say 55-year-old Heather Rossum of Fort Erie is charged with arson and failure to comply with undertaking.

Rossum was held in custody and attended a bail hearing on Sunday, April 17.
