Niagara police arrest four, lay 35 charges after overdose death

Niagara police have arrested four people and laid 35 charges after a long-term investigation into the drug supply connected to an overdose death in 2024.
In November 2024, a 63-year-old man was found dead inside a Niagara Falls motel room. Initial police investigations revealed he had died from an overdose after purchasing fentanyl.
Investigators were eventually able to identify a group of people believed to be responsible for multiple drug transactions in Niagara Falls and Welland.
On April 23, police executed a warrant at a house in the ‘Dain City’ neighborhood of Welland and seized:
- 610 grams of fentanyl
- 517 grams of crystal methamphetamine
- 185.3 grams of crack cocaine
- $5,000 in Canadian currency
- A 9mm handgun with an extended magazine
Officers estimate the total value of drugs seized is around $103,500
Police have arrested the following people and laid over 35 charges related to drug trafficking and firearm possession:
- Chantel Witter, 30, of Welland
- Joel Alexander Nichols, 19, of Toronto
- Alexander Solomon, 29, of Toronto
- Terrance Constantine, 30, of Toronto
All four people were taken into custody pending a bail hearing, which is scheduled to take place April 24 at the Robert S.K. Courthouse in St. Catharines.
