Five men from Niagara Falls are facing charges after a former hospital in St. Catharines was broken into.

Officers were called to a break and enter at a business near Queenston St. shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday.

Police were told the suspects may have fled into the former St. Catharines General Hospital.

Officers set up a perimeter outside the building and began searching for five men inside the hospital.

With the help of the K9 unit, the suspects were located and arrested.

“Investigation showed that these parties had broken into the premise of the former hospital and were attempting to steal items from inside the property,” said Niagara police in a news release.

All five men are facing break and enter charges. Police say the suspects were not responsible for the original break and enter reported.
