Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority in flood watch following storm

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority flood watch is still in effect Thursday morning following Wednesday’s ice storm.
The warning is for the Niagara region, the south-eastern portion of Hamilton and the eastern portion of Haldimand County.
As of midnight about 33 mm of rain has fallen over southern Ontario, with another 30 to 50 mm of rain anticipated to fall over the weekend, which may increase the risk of flooding in areas impacted by the previous storm.
The warning of potential flooding was posted Wednesday morning ahead of the ice storm that blew through southern Ontario Wednesday.
Residents are urged to stay away from creeks, rivers and all waterbodies at this time to avoid slippery slopes and elevated water levels as they can be hazardous.
