Incredibly the driver managed to get out after a nasty looking crash Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of a car lost control making a turn on the Niagara River Parkway. The car slammed into a tree and then flipped over and rolled down the embankment. Somehow the driver managed to get out of his vehicle.  But police say he then ran over to a nearby van and tried to steal it. The van owner fought him off. The suspected thief was taken to hospital under police guard. No word at this point if charges will be laid.
