Niagara man, 27, facing multiple drug and weapon-related charges

A 27-year-old Niagara man is facing multiple drug and weapon-related charges after police found suspected fentanyl in his car during a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon.

Police stopped a 2022 Kia Rio on Victoria Ave. near Magdalen St. at 3:30 p.m.

Officers told the driver of the Kia Rio to get out of the car after they failed to identify themselves in accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

Police say the driver ran from officers after getting out of the vehicle.

Officers then searched the Kia Rio and found 544 grams of suspected fentanyl estimated to be worth $20,000.

Investigators found the driver leaving a hotel on Centre St. near Lewis Ave. on Wednesday and arrested him.

Officers carried out a search warrant for the driver’s hotel room on Thursday.

They found suspected cocaine and fentanyl, a loaded gun, 43 bullets and two passports that had been previously reported lost and stolen.

Keshawn Travere Jason Bell has been arrested and charged as a result of this investigation.

Bell is facing charges for possession of cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without having a licence and many others.

He is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday.
