Niagara Falls man wanted for aggravated assault

Niagara Regional Police say a man is in serious condition after he was beaten with a metal pipe in Niagara Falls Wednesday morning.

Police say they responded to a call just before 3 a.m. in the area of Ferguson and Hickson avenue. It’s alleged that a woman was assaulted and the male victim, a bystander, tried to come to her aid when he was attacked.

The suspect fled in a car. The woman was treated for minor injuries, the man was taken to an out of region hospital where he remains in serious condition.

35-year-old Layton Noel Stevens of Niagara Falls is wanted for assault and aggravated assault.

Stevens is described as having tattoos, including a Blue Jays right arm sleeve, he is about 5’11 with a medium fit build, brown hair, eyes and facial hair.

Detectives believe Stevens is purposely evading arrest and his current location is unknown.
