Niagara Falls man arrested after Sunday morning shooting

A Niagara Falls man has been arrested in a shooting in the city early Sunday morning.
Police were called to the area of Sixth Ave. and Hamilton St. around 7 a.m., after seven shots were fired at a home earlier that morning.
No injuries were reported.

Alessandro Innocenzo Abbatiello, 21, of Niagara Falls was arrested on Monday. He faces several weapons charges.
“We have seen an increase in persons armed with guns in Niagara,” said police in a news release.
“The Niagara Regional Police Service investigation’s stemming from gun crimes are detailed and exhaustive of all investigative avenues. Those using guns to commit crimes should expect be held criminally accountable.”
Police say this remains an active investigation and they anticipate additional arrests and charges.
