Niagara Falls councillors continue 1000 km trek for childhood cancer research

It was oppressively hot on Tuesday for two Niagara Falls councillors, who are crossing the Bruce Trail to raise money for childhood cancer research and support.
Councillor Victor Pietrangelo and councillor and former Olympian Mike Strange kicked off their one-thousand-kilometre trek on august 11th in Tobermory in support of the “Box Run Charitable Foundation”.
CHCH News caught up with them as they made their way through the Hamilton area. The pair passed the halfway mark a few days ago, but the last few days have been very challenging.

“The last two days have been so so so hot. We’re changing our shirts every time we see the R.V. and, you know, you can feel just the energy draining out of you,” Strange said.
“We want to go through a little bit of pain and suffering just to make sure that we can let people know that what these children have to go through is a lot worse than what we’re going through,” Pietrangelo said.
So far, the two have raised $33,000 for the foundation. To date, the “box run” has raised more than $350,000.
