Niagara has had more snow than most areas this year, but today road crews got a jump on the storm. So far this year Hamilton has used 32 thousand tons of salt on its roads. In the Niagara region, they have used 44 hundred tons – but that’s just on the main regional roads. This winter from Niagara to Durham region, the MTO trucks have spread 60 thousand tons of salt on the highways.
Three young men from the Welland area are facing charges this evening. They were out on the middle of an ice bridge in the lower Niagara River taking pictures with a video camera. Niagara Parks Police were waiting for them at the top of the hill, they were put in a cruiser for a ride to the police station.
