New trial ordered for accused in Figliola murder

The Ontario Court of Appeal has granted new trials for a Hamilton woman and a man she’s accused of hiring to kill her husband.

Maria Figliola and Dan Di Trapani were convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2006.

But Wednesday, the appeals court ruled the judge made errors in their trial.
The two had been tried together, but the court has ruled they should be tried separately.

Frank Figliola, 49, was found beaten to death off a walking trail in Stoney Creek in August 2001.
