Ang Lee’s long anticipated follow-up to 2012’s Life of Pi has gotten its first trailer. Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk is adaptation of Ben Fountain’s award-winning novel of the same name. It stars Joe Alwyn, Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel, and Steve Martin.

The film is told from the point of view of 19-year-old private Billy Lynn (newcomer Joe Alwyn) who, along with his fellow soldiers in Bravo Squad, becomes a hero after a harrowing Iraq battle and is brought home temporarily for a victory tour.  Through flashbacks, culminating at the spectacular halftime show of the Thanksgiving Day football game, the film reveals what really happened to the squad – contrasting the realities of the war with America’s perceptions.

Lee used cutting-edge technology to shoot the film at 120 frames per second, an ultra high-speed that has never been used before. This technique creates “an immersive digital experience” and will look similar to Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy of films. Those were shot at 48 frames per second though, 2.5X slower than what Lee has done, so depending on how you reacted to Jackson’s films, you’re either really excited or really pessimistic about Billy Lynn.

Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk hits theatres on November 11.
