You may have noticed some of the street lights in Hamilton are much brighter. That is because the city is in the middle of installing ten thousand brand new LED lights, which are more cost and energy efficient. The amount of energy that is going to be conserved is equal to 720 houses annual consumption.

The project costs $5.5 million, but the province is pitching in $3.5 million as an incentive for municipalities to get on board. Enersource power services has been hired by the city to install all the new lights on all main arteries in Hamilton. The LED lights should make the streets brighter with a white light rather than the old yellowish lights.

All the lights should be installed by the fall with little impact to traffic.
