Despite the typo, the rumours are true — Krispy Kreme is currently in the permitting stages of opening a new location in Hamilton.

A watchful Redditor took to the city’s local subreddit this week after noticing a building permit application that mentioned a “Krispy Creme”.

The post quickly gained traction and before long it was confirmed that, despite the typo, Hamilton is slated to be getting its very own Krispy Kreme Theatre Hub.

While a timeline can’t be provided at the moment, a spokesperson from the company confirmed the move to town.

“We are excited to be bringing Krispy Kreme to Hamilton!” wrote Levi Hetrick, Chief Growth Officer with the company, in an email to CHCH News.

Currently, the nearest location for Hamiltonians to get their Krispy Kreme fix is in Mississauga. The Hamilton location is currently underway with permitting for a location on Rymal Road.

While shovels may not be breaking ground yet, Hetrick says he hopes to make another announcement that will unveil a more concrete timeline next year.
