New initiative targets underage drinking

A new initiative aimed at preventing under-age drinking is launching next month, in response to recommendations from an inquest into the death of a Waterdown teen.
17-year old Christopher Skinner died of alcohol poisoning at a party in 2010. Paramedics said the teen drank until he passed out, and had probably been dead for two hours when they arrived the next morning.
The “Strategies for Parents to Prevent Under-age Drinking Project” provides parents with some guidance on this risky behaviour. An educational event will be held on November 20th at Michaelangelo Events and Conference Centre in Hamilton.
